New Baby Macaw

We have a brand new Macaw Baby! - another Military Macaw baby. This baby was also incubated by their parents for 21 days and we pulled the eggs for incubation/hatching. The parents (Sarge & General) had 3 eggs and we decided to give them a chance to complete hatching of 1 egg. So we dutifully pulled 2 eggs and left one for the parents to take care of. This was a very hard decision, as this pair had never hatched out a baby according to Traci (who we got this pair from). Day before yesterday we saw the draw down of the air sac in the first egg, and then we saw the external pip the next day. After about 36-40 hours, we did intervene a little to help the little one out of the egg. At this point Jodie decided to pull the third egg too, as she did not want that happen to the egg left with the parents. We really did not want to lose a baby just because hr/she wanted some help to get out of the egg and we did not give that. But - after we pulled the egg, we realized that the egg was not good. So we have 2 good eggs out of the 3. The second egg is in a draw down now and in the next couple of days we hope to have the next baby hatch too. Oh! Boy - that is the story of our current clutch of Macaw babies
Ray and Rita (Sun Conure pair) decided to double clutch this year and now they are sitting on 2 eggs as of now. The Blue crowns finally are showing some interest in the box, so hopefully (fingers crossed!) they will go to nest soon. The young pair of Severes (Mr.Kitty and Mischief) are acting a little strange and spending a lot of time in front of the nest box. Last year they laid their very first clutch (clear of course!), so this year we are excited even though we do not except any babies. In other news, Lola (Harlequin) and Rocket(B&G) (the pet pair) got a nest box and we are wondering what they are going to do with it. Will keep you all posted! Here is a picture of the new Macaw baby in the process of hatching, taken last night before midnight.
