The last Sun Conure baby for the season went home today with Krystle of KPP Aviary. Thanks Krystle. The baby was one of the sweetest baby we have raised here. The Suns were not as productive this year as last year, but then again looking back last year was an exceptional year and to think that was the norm would be real naive. We are happy with the babies we were blessed with and now all the babies have found good homes. In addition to the Conure babies we have 7 baby Macaws, 4 have found homes, even though we are still handfeeding them at this time. They youngest 3 are about 3 weeks old and they are the only ones available now.
Some of the birds on their forced vacation with us removing their nest boxes so that they are can just enjoy being birds, eating all the good stuff we give them on a daily basis. We do not believe in over breeding as that will affect the health of the parent birds and also the quality of babies we get. So the parents who had babies this year are all taking a break with us planning to give their boxes back in time for the spring season. Some of the pairs do pace themselves, and they sleep in their boxes on a daily basis. In those kind of situations, we do not take their boxes of. With meticulous book keeping with all the data, we are able to a close eye on all the birds and we are happy with every one of them.
That's all for now - time to get back and enjoy the weather.
