Introducing the Greys

African Grey's are one of the most fascinating birds that can be kept as pet. They are known for their life like imitation of noises around them, vocabulary and also their intelligence. If anyone of you have any doubt about the above statement, make sure check out Alex - the famous African Grey at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_(parrot). There are two different species of Grey's Congo's (Psittacus erithacus erithacus) and Timneh's (Psittacus erithacus timneh). They are similar looking, but certain visual cue's that differentiate them. Congo's are larger and lighter shading of grey (almost silver color) with red tails. Timney's are smaller with dark grey color and maroon tails. They are both excellent as pets. We got a chance to add a few pairs of Congo's to our collection, and we jumped at the opportunity. We were supposed to get them before Christmas, but then they went to nest and we did not want to move them then. This past weekend we did bring them all home. We are super excited about them
We got a total of four pairs - all are Congo's. The pairs are as follows - Captain and Chicken, Jeremiah and Josephine, Samson and Delilah and Jake and Molly. They are not screamers and almost all of them talk little and make nice and soft noises like the microwave and train whistles. All in all they are a real pleasure to have around. We have really high hopes for these guys as we already have customers in our waiting list wanting grey's from us. Couple of them are bald, and Jake is a nervous wreck according to his previous owners. We are hopeful that he feels comfortable enough to let all his feathers grow. Others are mostly bald in the head from their mates over preening them, other than that we do not see a lot of feather plucking or chewing.
Do you think that you might want one of our Congo African Grey babies, just let us know and we will be more than happy to put you in our waiting list and keep you updated with all the latest news.
