Severe's are sitting on eggs

That is correct, the Severe Macaws are sitting on their first ever clutch of eggs. Mr. Kitty and Mischief are a very young pair (about 4 years old) and were paired up when they were about an year old. Mr. Kitty is close banded and hand raised, but Mischief is a parent raised Severe female. This being the first time, both of them have absolutely no idea as to what is going on or what to do. As we suspected, both the eggs are clear, but we are just thrilled at the fact that they are maturing and old enough to breed. So we are giving all the encouragement to them.

He seems to be bummed out as she is not coming out of the nest box to play with him, not knowing all the things that go on with breeding. Actually a couple of days before laying her eggs, we could see that Mischief was holding her tail with her toes and trying to see what is going on back there all the time. It was funny, at the same time scary for we were not even sure, if she would know enough to go into the box and lay the egg. Thankfully nature knows what is to be done and now she is sitting in that box. Hopefully next time around, Mr. Kitty will know what to do to make sure the eggs are fertile.
