Another Couple of Weeks of News

We have another couple of weeks of news to update you all - we have babies. All four eggs of Sunshine and Bubba hatched and we took the oldest two out for handfeeding as we do think it takes a lot out of the parents to feed them. We would rather have them concentrate on two babies and we worry about the others. So Jodie now has to get up every 2-3 hours and feed the little ones. In another week so she should be able to get some solid sleep as the babies grow up and sleep through the night. We are also very much ecstatic about Ray and Rita (our other pair of Suns) laying for the first time for us. They are a little strange, we are just getting to know their tendencies and behavior. First of all they took out all the nest bedding out of their nest box and the eggs are on wood bottom of the nest box resting against the side wall. Then, Rita laid the third egg from the perch to the bottom of the cage. All this has us wondering if we have a very young pair who is not sure what they are doing. It is not what we were told when you got this pair (as proven!), but we have come to realize that it means nothing in the breeder bird business.
Scarlet has gone back to nest and have one egg - we are crossing our fingers and hoping that we get a scarlet baby this time.
That's all for now and we hope to provide you with more good news soon.
