Our Birds
Doc and Leena
Leena and Doc are our beautiful GreenWing pair. They have a very sweet disposition to them and is absolutely beautiful to look at with all the feathers. They love to chew up their perches and would do anything to get grapes. Even though they are breeders, they love to take treats from us, especially grapes. The love to play and dance. Leena is our male and Doc (Lady Doctor of course!) is the female of the pair - the name is odd, but they love it.
Max and Mollie
Max and Mollie are our Harlequin Pair - their babies are stunning with the laid back attitude of the male Greenwing and sweet disposition of the Blue and Gold Mommy. They were both pets and chose themselves to be a pair and absolutely love each other. They are constantly preening each other and is a blast to have in our aviary. They both talk a little and are wonderful parents.
Scarlet and Frankie
Scarlet and Frankie are our Scarlet Pair - they have a wide yellow band and are absolutely gorgeous to look at. They are not tame but both of them talk and love our interaction with them. They are our latest pair to join our family and as soon as we know more about them, we will update this.
Sarge and Gypsy
Sarge (as we call him!) and Gypsy are very devoted parents. He has preened all her neck feathers out so she looks like a vulture with bare neck. This is so true with she is peeking out of her nest box when only things we see is head. He is very protective of her when they are breeding and sometimes we think that he is very demanding of Gypsy too. When she is out while on eggs, he usually wants her back in the nest box as soon as possible and we sometimes say that he is a real sergeant.
Mr. Kitty and Mischief
Mr. Kitty and Mischief are a very young pair of Severe Macaws who have been together all their lives. They were paired up when they were less than an year old and now slowly they are getting to be mature. They are a very calming influence in our aviary as he always says 'Its OK' in a very soft voice if anything goes wrong. He can talk a lot and it is fun to talk to them. They laid their first ever clutch this spring (2009) and as expected they had absolutely no idea what they were doing :) They are going to figure this thing out soon.
Chico and Chara
Chico and Chara are our resident spanish couple. They are yellow nape amazons known for their vivd personalities and talking ability. The talk away in spanish a lot which is great for I do not understand anything. The previous owners should have been spanish speaking for they seem to be absolutely comfortable with it. In addition to that he also knows a lot of common words in english too.
Pip and Penny
Pip and Penny are our Alexandrine Parakeets. They are very nice birds, and have come to like us. They are definitely a breeding pair and not handled by us, but they do tolerate us and take treats from us on a regular basis. Penny even when she is on eggs will come out for her peanut (treat) every day.
Bubba & Sunshine and Ray & Rita
They are our Sun Conure pairs, both the pairs are very vibrant in color and very friendly when they are not breeding. When on eggs and with babies they are a bit aggressive and that is very understandable. Both of the pairs are really good parents and produce really beautiful and smart babies. We are very happy with both our pairs of Suns.
Otter & Seaweed and Joe & Shasta
They are our Blue Crown Conure pairs. Otter and Seaweed is an younger pair where as Joe and Shasta are an older couple. This spring both the pairs gave us babies and what an absolute joy it had been to be around them babies. They have a wonderful personaility and they start to talk before they are weaned, making it so hard for us to give the babies to their new owners.
